Week 4 of our Autumn park & street series was held around Thurgoona, one of our best park & street maps and a map that was recently expanded to incorporate the new estate areas west of Elizabeth Mitchell Drive and the farmland north of Charles Sturt University.
The Run class was very close, with Peter Mousley taking another win but only just – Peter’s 730 points just topped Tony & Lucy Wilson on 710 and Nick Mousley on 700.
Rick Armstrong continued his dominance of the Walk class with another comfortable win. Norm McCann and Kate Freier were amazingly close for second, taking almost identical time to travel almost identical distance and scoring almost identical points, and, no, they weren’t together – their routes and the controls they got were quite different. And both would have been closer to Rick had they not each incurred two minutes of time penalties for being 67 seconds late (it must be so tempting to start running when you know you’re not going to make it!).
John Trevivian was our only entry in the Ride class this week. His expression when observing the control on top of the lecture theatre building was priceless – he was not going up there!
Thanks to course setters Matt and Emma Flower, and to Peter Mousley for the extended map.
