NOTES
Part of a series of training days aimed at two groups of people:
1/ newcomers to bush orienteering
2/ those wanting to step up from Moderate to Hard bush courses
There will be a structured series of coaching and training activities to develop skills and confidence for bush orienteering. Each training day proceeds a club event so you’ll be able to put your improved skills to test.
Note there is no cost for these events but please contact us (info@awoc.org.au) so we know how many people to expect.
Session 3
Back to 9 Mile Reserve, the scene of our last Interclub. This gives runners a chance to discuss their course and walk through how it could have been completed better. There will also be some new training material to practice.
Skills coaching will include map orientation, location tracking, basic map symbols and feature identification. More advanced skills will focus on rock and how to navigate in technical areas. Short courses are offered to practice the skills learnt.
